Independance of the Seas

 Independence of the Seas recently received a multi-million dollar refurbishment that saw her gain an array of upgrades and new features. Among her additions are a brand new outdoor movie screen, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy movies under the stars with special seating and popcorn. The popular Oasis-class Cupcake Cupboard was added, bringing the favourite tasty treats to the Royal Promenade. The little ones can now make the most of a modern nursery, perfect for parents to take some time out with the youngest members of the family. Staterooms, Vintages bar and other public areas were all upgraded.

Entertainment

Evening entertainment options range from the lavish and lively to a more subdued and soothing vibe with an amazing array of show lounges, bars and dance venues to choose from. Wonderful West End-style musical shows with talented singers, dancers and comedians fill the glorious Alhambra Theatre with song and laughter. The Pyramid Lounge is a large lounge used for receptions, themed parties, karaoke and other entertainment. Featuring live music, dancing and events such as bingo, quizzes and game shows also take place here. The Labyrinth is the ships nightclub, featuring gothic and neon décor along with inspiration from the tower of London with models of Beefeaters and ravens, The Labyrinth hosts family club nights, teen discos, and DJs later in the night. The club is two levels high with the dance floor on the lower level with bars upstairs and downstairs. Seven Hearts is the ship's 24 hour card and games room.

 

Dining

There’s a real sense of traditional cruise conviviality about dining with your fellow passengers at set-time sittings in the absolutely stunning main, three-deck restaurant, each tier themed on one of Shakespeare’s Othello, Romeo and Juliet or King Lear plays. If you prefer a more casual approach to your meals then the Windjammer food court is sure to appeal. Chops Grille the reservation only restaurant serves steaks, fresh seafood, hearty side dishes and desserts in an elegant atmosphere. Johnny Rockets® is the ships ‘50s-style all-American traditional burger joint which features red booths, formica counters, a jukebox and menu serving burgers, fries and old-fashioned malted milk shakes.

Bars & Lounges

The nautically themed Schooner Bar is the ships cocktail and piano bar with a model old fashioned sailing ship forming part of the decoration along with ropes, rigging and leather chairs, guests can enjoy a dry martini whilst taking part in activities on offer which include music and other trivia quizzes. This quiet and elegant Champagne Bar and is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of champagne before or after dinner. Along with a wide variety of champagne to select from, cocktails, wines and spirits are also served here. The English-themed Dog and Badger Pub serving various imported beers and bottled ales. The pub also has a resident entertainer playing music most nights. The 77 seat Boleros Lounge situated around the atrium and is Independence’s Latin Bar. With windows overlooking the promenade deck and its own stage and dance floor, entertainment ranges from live bands playing salsa music making it the ideal night time hotspot to dance the night away in with a refreshing mango mojito or caipirinha. Classical music is also played at this venue and it is ideally situated for pre dinner drinks before heading off to the main dining rooms.

 

Kids and Teens

The H2O Zone features colourful sculptures around a series of sprinklers, jets and water cannons that youngsters can use to soak each other. It is catered for by the Squeeze juice bar and a soft drinks and sprinkles soft scoop ice cream station (the ice cream is complimentary whilst the soft drinks station is for use by those with a drinks package using the special cups provided which have a chip in them to activate the machines. The ship's Video Arcade offers games such as Pacman and table hockey, Guitar Hero, Fast and Furious Drift, Mario Karts and dance games. The Fuel Teen Disco is a teens-only club where they can gather, dance and enjoy music and family karaoke also takes place in Fuel on a number of occasions during a cruise.
